ABOUT COLLECTION
Inspired by the Westernization in Vietnam during the war, when rich people blindly and ridiculously tried to prove their wealth, the concept makes fun of those people who slowly killed the traditions to foolishly follow what they believed to be “royal, high class and modern”.
France brought money and endless parties to Vietnam during the war. Parties of the rich with jazz and glitter. The rich tried everything to prove that they have money. They dressed up, they wore gold and diamonds, they wore literally anything and everything expensive and went to expensive parties. They were ridiculous.
The 1920’s was the golden era of parties of the rich with gems and gold. It was the decade where women freed themselves from the restrictions of society’s beauty standards. The 1940’s also left a huge impact on the fashion industry. Modern fashion was shaped by 1940’s styling with dress suits, high-waisted trousers or casual clothes. Vietnamese Westernization was affected the most by those two eras. However, the traditions were mixed up with Westernization blindly by the rich, making them ridiculous.
